OPERA EDUCATION - Backstage Tour

Are you curious about opera? Are you afraid you won't understand the story because it's being sung in a foreign language? Would you like to know how to understand what is happening on stage?

Our Opera Guide for Teachers is free and will help educators and individuals prepare themselves and their students for what may be a first time experience at the opera. This guide will explain basic opera terms, what to expect at your visit to the theater, a brief synopsis, a description of the characters, and much more. You can down load it at the bottom of this page.

Part of our Opera  Education Program includes this Opera Guide, plus an invitation to see our Preview Performances at no cost to students or chaperones.

For an even more in depth look at what takes to create an opera show, how all costumes and set are created, what the stage crew does, and what is happening in the control booth, our backstage tour will definitely be a fun adventure for you. Dr. Carlos Oliva, the founder of the PLA Opera, will show you around and answer all your questions.

After the tour you will see the final dress rehearsal where our singers, orchestra, tech crew, costumers, light designers, stage director, hair stylists and makeup artists do their last preparations for the opening night.
